Project 01 — in collaboration with Oxfam

Working in collaboration with Oxfam to source post-consumer textile waste garments. These discarded pieces were foraged and reimagined, challenging their intended end-of-life destination.
Using the foundations of shirt pattern cutting and garment construction, I applied technical skills to create new designs from old garments. Existing garments were deconstructed and transformed into new pieces that prioritise longevity, creativity, and thoughtful making.
The Process

Post-consumer shirts foraged from Oxfam textile waste — pinstripes, ginghams and micro-spots destined for the end of the line.

Each shirt is unpicked and recut. Collars, plackets and cuffs are kept as found details; new panels are cut from the flat fabric.

The silhouette is tested in calico on the stand — the tie collar, the long flared sleeve and the cropped, fitted body.

A new shirt, built from old ones. Three shirtings, one garment — made to be worn for a long time.
